5/21/2023 0 Comments Windows 10 o&o shut up![]() I'm hoping updated firmware will help with linux usability. There might be a way to update firmware from linux but I'm too lazy to try. Seeing if there's a BIOS update (only direct from dell) was actually one of the reasons for using 10 for a little bit along with firmware for SSDs and any other devices that might have a firmware update available. I'm still kind of hesitant to switch back to 10 for a number of reasons but I supposed I won't have a lot of choice. MS doesn't have a very good reputation at the moment so I would personally want to only get it from OEM myself but I can see the logic of making it available via windows update alongside drivers. And - especially since ubiquitous UEFI - there are legitimate reasons for making sure firmware/bios are all on the latest versions available. As it turns out it's not as big of a deal as I initially thought. Home has group policy as well, the gpedit.msc is only a GUI frontend you can install it on home edition no problem it's one line to run.Ĭlick to expand.I started reading that and other threads on that forum. Getting rid of some apps does need to use PowerShell as far as I remember. Some can be automated to reapply your settings but have to constantly start or run. I also have spybotantibeacon, really you will probably run these once and then forget to run them every week after Win update etc. ![]() Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Camera access for apps disabled in Win settings and I bet if I could test it there would be no access for the apps, yet OOSU10 lists it as red = disable is deactivated. O&O ShutUp10 means you have full control over which comfort functions under Windows 10 you wish to use, and you decide when the passing on of your data goes too far. Looking at OOSU10 right now it lists somewhat garbage as to what is enabled and disabled, who the hell knows if it's up to date and reading the registry etc. The bloat apps you can uninstall and at least for me they do not reinstall, such as crappy games M$ tries to push. Sadly, the highest compatibility with software is not changing default settings in OS at least not those that are not in easily accessible control panels. Same goes for cut down versions of OS as you may cut out something you think you don't need only 1-2 years later to find out you do need it and there is no way to install it additionally. these kind of lists tend to be so aggressive they disable half the useful features for advanced users. OOSU10 is OK if you know what you're doing.īlackViper. Enable ultimate performance power plan or make and tweak your own with added options.
